The Christmas Story

Luke 1:26-38 (BV 4Ed)

26 During the month, the sixth, the angel Gabriel was sent out from God on a mission to a city of Galilee to which belongs the name Nazareth
27 to a virgin that had been engaged to a man to whom belongs the name Joseph from David's house. And the name of the virgin was Mary.
28 And when he went into a house to her, he said, "Be happy, you who have been shown generosity. The Master is with you."
29 The virgin was very upset over the message and was considering what kind of greeting this might be.
30 And the angel said to her, "Don't be afraid, Mary. You see, you found generosity beside God.
31 And look, you will conceive in your womb and will deliver a son. And you will call His name Jesus.
32 This son will be huge and will be called Son of the Highest. And the Master, God, will give Him the throne of David, His father.
33 And He will be king over the house of Jacob for the spans of time, and of His empire there will not be a conclusion."
34 Mary said to the angel, "How will this be since I do not know a man?"
35 And when the angel answered, he said to her, "The Sacred Spirit will come on you, and the shadow of the ability of the Highest will fall on you. For this reason, the sacred Child being born also will be called Son of God.
36 And look, Elisabeth, your relative, she has also conceived a son in her agedness. And this is the sixth month for her, the one who is called infertile,
37 because every statement from the side of God will not be impossible."
38 Mary said, "Look, the slave of the Master. May it happen to me in line with your statement." And the angel went away from her.

Matthew 1:18-2:23 (BV 4Ed)

18 The birth of Jesus, the Anointed King, was like this: when His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before the time for them to even come together, she was found having a baby in her womb from the Sacred Spirit.
19 Joseph, her husband, who did what is right and who did not want to make an example of her, intended to dismiss her in an unnoticed way.
20 When he contemplated these things, look, an angel of the Master appeared to him throughout a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, you should not be afraid to take along Mary, your wife. You see, what is born in her is from the Sacred Spirit.
21 She will deliver a son, and you will call His name Jesus. You see, He will rescue His ethnic group from their sins."
22 This whole thing had happened so that what was stated by the Master through the preacher in Isaiah 7:14 might be accomplished that says,
23 "Look, the virgin will have a baby in her womb and deliver a son. And they will call His name Immanuel, that is translated from Hebrew as 'God with us'."
24 When Joseph got up from the slumber, he did as the angel of the Master instructed him, and he took his wife along.
25 And he was not knowing her until the time that she delivered a son. And he called His name Jesus.
1 When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Judea in the days of Herod the king, look, Magian gurus from eastern regions showed up in Jerusalem
2 saying, "Where is the King of the Jewish people that was delivered in birth? You see, we saw His star in the east, and we came to bow down to Him."
3 When King Herod heard this, he was uneasy and all of Jerusalem with him.
4 And when he gathered all of the head priests and Old Testament transcribers of the ethnic group together, he was inquiring from the side of them where the Anointed King should be born.
5 The transcribers said to him, "In Bethlehem, Judea." You see, this is what has been written through the preacher in Micah 5:2,
6 "And you, Bethlehem, land of Judea, are you not the smallest among the leaders of Judea? You see, a person who leads will come out of you, someone who will shepherd My ethnic group Israel."
7 At that time, after Herod in an unnoticed way called for the Magian gurus, he verified from the side of them the time of the shining star.
8 And when he sent them to Bethlehem, he said, "After traveling there, question specifically about the young child. Whenever you find him, report to me in order that after going there, I also might bow down to him."
9 After the Magian gurus listened to the king, they traveled, and, look, the star that they saw in the east was going ahead of them until after going, it was stopped up on top of where the young child was.
10 When they saw the star, they were terribly happy with great happiness.
11 And when they went into the house, they saw the young child with Mary, His mother. And after they got down, they bowed to Him. And when they opened their treasures, they offered up contributions to Him: gold, high quality incense, and myrrh (expensive perfume).
12 And when they were divinely notified throughout a dream not to double back to Herod, they took a back way using another road to their rural area.
13 After they took a back way, look, an angel of the Master appears throughout a dream to Joseph, saying, "After you get up, take along the young child and His mother, escape into Egypt, and be there until I tell you. You see, Herod is going to be looking for the young child for the purpose to ruin Him."
14 After Joseph got up, he took along the young child and his mother at night and took a back way into Egypt.
15 And he was there until the passing away of Herod so that what was stated by the Master through the preacher in Hosea 11:1 might be accomplished that says, "Out of Egypt I called My Son."
16 At that time, when Herod saw that He was mocked by the Magian gurus, he was very angry. And after sending soldiers out, he executed all the boys in Bethlehem and in all its borders from two years of age and below according to the time that he verified from the side of the Magian gurus.
17 Then what was stated through Jeremiah, the preacher, in Jeremiah 31:15 was accomplished that says,
18 "A sound was heard in Rama, much crying and mourning, Rachel crying for her children. And she was not wanting to be encouraged because they are not."
19 After Herod passed away, look, an angel of the Master appeared throughout a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 saying, "After you get up, take along the young child and His mother, and be traveling into the land of Israel. You see, the people looking for the soul of the young child have died."
21 After Joseph got up, he took along the young child and His mother, and went into the land of Israel.
22 After hearing that Archelaus is king of Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go off to there. After being divinely notified throughout a dream, he took a back way into the parts of Galilee.
23 And after going, he resided in a city called Nazareth in order that what was stated through the preachers might be accomplished, "He will be called a Nazarene."

Luke 2:1-40 (BV 4Ed)

1 It happened in those days; a rule went out from the side of Caesar Augustus to be registering all the civilized world.
2 This registration first happened as Cyrenius was the leader of Syria.
3 And all were traveling to be registered, each to his own city.
4 Joseph also walked up out of Galilee from the city of Nazareth into Judea into a city of David, a certain city that is called Bethlehem, because of the fact for him to be from a house and family tree of David,
5 to be registered together with Mary, the woman who had been engaged to him, being in the later stages of pregnancy.
6 It happened during the time for them to be there; the days of the "for her to deliver" part culminated.
7 And she delivered her son, the firstborn, wrapped Him in a strip of cloth, and laid Him in a feed trough because there was no place for them in the guest room.
8 And shepherds were in the rural area, the same rural area, camping out and standing guard over their flock during the guard shifts of the night.
9 And an angel of the Master stood over them, and the magnificence of the Master shined around them. And they feared huge fear.
10 And the angel said to them, "Don't be afraid. You see, look, I am sharing the good news with you of great happiness, something that will be for all the ethnic group
11 because there was delivered to you in birth today, a rescuer, who is the Anointed King, the Master, in a city of David.
12 And this is the indicator for you. You will find a baby that has been wrapped in a strip of cloth and is lying in a feed trough.
13 And unexpectedly there became together with the angel a large number of a heavenly army praising God and saying,
14 "Magnificence in the highest belongs to God, and on earth peace among people of God's good notion."
15 And it happened as soon as the angels went away from them into the sky; the shepherds were speaking to each other, "We will for sure go through until Bethlehem and see this statement, the one that has happened, that the Master informed us of."
16 And they went hurrying. And they looked for and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the feed trough.
17 When they saw them, they informed them about the statement, the one that was spoken to them about this young child.
18 And all the people who heard were amazed about the things that were spoken by the shepherds to them.
19 But Mary was preserving all these statements as she deliberated in her heart.
20 And the shepherds returned admitting that God is magnificent and praising God based on everything that they heard and saw, just as it was spoken to them.
21 And when eight days culminated of the requirement to circumcise Him, His name was also called Jesus, what He was called by the angel before the time for Him to be conceived in the belly.
22 And when the days of their cleansing culminated according to the law of Moses, they led Him up into Jerusalem to offer Him to the Master
23 (just as it has been written in the law of the Master in Exodus 13:2, "Every male completely opening the womb will be called sacred to the Master")
24 and for the purpose to give a sacrifice according to what has been stated in the law of the Master in Leviticus 12:8, "a pair of cooing doves or two young chicks of doves."
25 And look, a person was in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. And this person did what is right and was devoted, waiting for Israel's encouragement. And the Sacred Spirit was on him.
26 And it was for him (having been divinely notified by the Spirit, the Sacred Spirit) to not even see death before he would see the Anointed King of the Master.
27 And he went in the Spirit onto the temple grounds even during the time for the parents to lead the young child Jesus in for the purpose of them to do according to what had been made the custom of the law concerning Him."
28 And he accepted Him into his bent arms, conferred prosperity on God, and said,
29 "Now You are dismissing Your slave, my Owner, in line with Your statement in peace
30 because my eyes saw Your rescue process
31 that You got ready right in front of the face of all the ethnic groups,
32 a light for uncovering non-Jews and for the magnificence of Your ethnic group, Israel."
33 And there was His father and mother being amazed based on the things spoken about Him.
34 And Simeon conferred prosperity on them and said to Mary, His mother, "Look, this child lies here for a fall and return back to life of many people in Israel and for an indicator to which opposition is expressed
35 (a sword will also go through your very soul) in order that considerations from many hearts will be uncovered."
36 And Anna was a female preacher, Phanuel's daughter from Asher's family line. She was a woman far advanced in years (literally, having walked on in many days) who lived with a husband for seven years out from her puberty.
37 And she was a widow up to eighty-four years who was not staying away from the temple grounds ministering with times of going without food and with pleas, night and day.
38 And when she in the same hour stood over them, she was responding by acknowledging God and speaking about Him to all of the people waiting for Jerusalem's release payment.
39 And as soon as they finished all the things according to the law of the Master, they returned back into Galilee into their own city, Nazareth.
40 The young child was growing and gaining power being filled with insight. And God's generosity was on Him.

A Better Bible
This is not your grandpa's traditional Bible, nor your mom's nonliteral contemporary Bible. This is something completely new, something that is long overdue: a direct translation of the original Greek text in today's words.
The Breakthrough Version starts with a better set of words:

• closer to the Greek words
• words that everyone knows
• no old traditional words
• a thorough overhaul

Adherring to strict standards and using advanced procedures developed in over three decades of study, Ray Geide (a former missionary and pastor) has produced a better translation with a better set of words.

• more literal than your Bible
• more detailed than your Bible
• a more uniform translation than your Bible
• more accurate than your Bible

The Breakthrough Version is a closer rendition of the sacred Greek words spoken by Jesus and written through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit by Paul and the other authors.

More Accurate and Nontraditional
Because the Bible should be Correct
Because the Bible should be for Everyone
