Jonathan Rolfe in response to my article about Google Earth wrote me and said:
"Ray, you might look at NASA's Worldwind also. You can do it with both the Earth AND the Moon. It is FREE. Your taxes already paid for it. http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/"
I did go and try Worldwind. It starts out with a picture of the earth like Google Earth does but that seems to be where the similarities end. Navigating the earth is harder in the NASA version. There are instructional videos on Wikipedia which tell how to use the program but when I tried to view them it froze up at 73% and so I never could watch it. I am sure that they would have helped me. It does seem to have images from many satellites and not just one but they don't seem to have the resolution that Google Earth has. I am sure that they show more than what Google Earth shows but I could not figure it out. It also allows you to cruise the Moon and a few planets, like Venus.
