WindowsXP SP3. There is a file called framedyn.dll which lives in system32\webm and system32\dllcache and if it is corrupt (or presumably the wrong version) it disables system restore and certain third-party programmes. In my case it affects Registry 1st Aid and Spybot S&D.

What I want to know is this: Why does framedyn.dll get "knocked out" every so often? I have had to replace it a few times.

PS: I have been a great fan of WinRescue and Regvac for many years. Why not augment one of these to check out framedyn.dll?
